πŸ‚πŸ”₯ Dawaagin – A Fall Celebration at The Forts πŸ”₯πŸ‚
Celebrate the beauty of autumn in the Northwoods at Dawaagin, a seasonal gathering at Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park in Burnett County, WI. β€œDawaagin” is the Ojibwe word for autumn, and this special event honors the harvest
"Dagwaagin" is an Ojibwe term for "Fall"
"Gabeshiwin" is Ojibwe for Camp.
Come celebrate the season, the turning of the leaves, and the traditions that connect us to the land.

Enjoy a day filled with seasonal sights, sounds, and flavors:
🍁 Fall Colors & Nature Walks through our pine forests and riverside trails
πŸ₯£ Wild Rice & Harvest Foods – taste the flavors of the season
πŸͺΆ Ojibwe Cultural Traditions and storytelling
πŸ›οΈ Local Artisans & Craft Vendors with unique fall gifts
πŸ”₯ Bonfire & Gathering Spaces to warm the spirit
✨ Dawaagin is a celebration for all ages – blending history, culture, and community in the crisp autumn air.

This Fall Gathering features several re-enactors demonstrating flint knapping, fire-starting, rope making, duck decoys constructed from cattails, and more - think of it as a mini-Rendezvous along with shorter self guided tours of the historic site and Ojibwe Village. Several primitive camps will be set up. Tomahawk throwing and archery are included in this event.

We will be having a gun collector with pre-1840 North West trade guns, trade silver, trade axes and other related items to display and talk about.

School groups are invited to come to the event on Wednesday through Friday, September 24-26, 2025

Orange wildflowers.
