Karlsborg School

Karlsborg School

Slate and Chalk

The Karlsborg School is an authentic Burnett County Swedish one room schoolhouse built in 1887. Originally located in Lincoln Township it was attended by children from the Grantsburg area.

A teacher's desk and chair originally from Karlsborg School are among the items generously contributed by local residents. The Historical Society continues its efforts to obtain early 19th century furnishings, adding them to our current display which includes students' desks, a recitation bench, and other items that make the school come alive for today's visitors.

Panels featuring photographs of other old schools, and group photos of students, are arranged by townships. There is an informative display panel with quotes from Burnett County senior citizens who attended some of these schools.
